For the past three decades, everyone familiar with Nintendo's iconic mascot, Mario, has known of his villainous and greedy alter-ego, Wario. Contrary to popular belief, the 'w' in Wario is not a flipped ‘m’ from Mario but actually stands for the Japanese word for bad. Alongside Wario, Nintendo introduced Luigi's counterpart, Waluigi. There were even discussions about creating a 'bad Peach' character named Walpeach.
Fumihide Aoki, who goes by Yuzumpo on Instagram and is Waluigi's creator, recently shared sketches of a punk-inspired queen character for the Gamecube game Mario Power Tennis that never came to fruition. Aoki also revealed that plans for Walpeach had been discussed during the development of Mario Tennis 64 but never progressed beyond initial conversations.
